Blissful Guest Room Office Combo: Before & After Design Photos

This works well here because of the balance of wood tones with the dark wall frames that anchor the space, and the greenery incorporated for visual comfort. If lighting isn’t optimal for tall plants which will act as dividers, consider some sustainably made faux plants that will serve the purpose just the same. The natural wood desk and warm-colored chair and desk pad allow it to blend in amongst the greenery surrounding it.

Adding functionality to a small or combined space is often easier than you think with the help of a simple DIY project. In this example, there are curtains surrounding the bed, and also curtains on the other side of the workspace. Place your curtain tracks or mounts in the corners of each functional space. Even though the curtains aren’t blocking any visual pathways, they still infer the division of space by being anchored to a path on the ceiling. When you have a space with multiple functions, it’s best to differentiate these function zones from each other. Click here for 18 living room and small bedroom combo ideas.

Consider Moody Blues

Now, with working from home a lot over these last few months, I was motivated to rearrange things again and set up a home office space. Now, we have the perfect multipurpose guest room with light walls and a navy blue painted ceiling. It is a home office guest room combo which also serves as a plant room in the winter. This is a room tour of my guest bedroom and home office combination.

Because I have a gallery wall, and lots of things going on in this small space, I decided to try to keep the shade simple. Instead of using curtains, I opted for a light weight shade. Now, Let’s talk about desks and chairs, which are essential for a home office. It’s always nice to have some sort of side table next to a seat so that people can put their drinks on it.

In fact, I didn’t really realize just how bad the placement of the bed was until we moved it out and rearranged a few weeks ago. How much bigger the room feels with just those simple changes of the bed! Between that and the new lighter color on the walls, the room feels like a completely different space. If the space is generous, use other furniture to divide the room, such as a bookcase or small sofa, to give guests the feeling of privacy. A large room will also allow you to include a larger bed, creating optimal comfort for your guests. But regardless of the room’s size, make use of vertical space.

If you are lacking space in your home, consider creating a multi-purpose room by combining a home office/guest room to host overnight guests. This space could be a spare bedroom that you use for the occasional guest or for storing unused clutter. With some cleanup, this space can be transformed into a highly functional and attractive room.

The colors of the wall and the sofa provide the perfect amount of contrast and harmony to really create an interesting space. Knowing the other shades in the Color Collection would be complementary to the paint colors I chose, I picked a couple other shades for my furniture and decor. Gristmill Greige was the perfect choice for a sleeper sofa, and the deep tones of Blue Endeavour would be incorporated through throw pillows and decor. Using one room for multiple purposes is a normal part of every home, and it doesn't have to be overwhelming or difficult.

The aqua curtains were already hanging in this room since I bought them last spring. Once the paint was dry, we moved the queen bed into two new positions and finally left it to where we were left with the most usable space. Another thing we did that made a big difference was removing my beloved metal headboard.

Sometimes compartmentalizing spaces only takes a simple differentiation in wall color. In this example, a storage wall is installed between the entryway and the sleeping area to create a bed nook. I like this design specifically because there is a clear separation of space communicated by the contrasting dark and light colors on the walls. These 6 colors go well with dark wood bedroom furniture.

This structured theme makes the accent wall a visual centerpiece. Be sure to measure out the room for movement around the bed if space allows. It reflects more light and allows the soft color palette to come through.

Gray has been a trending classic for years, and it's still a great choice for a guest room or office since it lends itself well to any other colors you may use. Choose a light shade of gray to help your space feel open and bright. Is your home office/guest room space on the small side? Your solution is a soft and comfortable couch that doubles as office seating and a resting area for guests. A small coffee table or end table nearby gives you tabletop space for all of your office necessities.

Think about where you want the most light to reflect during the day, and that is where you should paint your white/off-white walls. In the case that this is a combined space for non-computer work, you could flip the paint application to make the sleeping area dark, and the work area light. I would advise painting the sleeping section a lighter color for the reasons listed above.

A mirrored closet keeps the interior clean, uncluttered, and appear more spacious. 180-degree hinges enable the doors to completely open, creating a comfortable and functional workspace. A small condo uses a second bedroom as an office and occasional guest bedroom. A Case Study Day Bed by Modernica can be used to accommodate an overnight guest. The durable desktop is a solid wood maple, accented by a Different World Chair by Humanscale.

To go with the lounge vibe, I also added a wall sconce so it can serve as a table lamp when people sleep here or a reading light when we are using it as an office. In fact, we had to return the first sleeper sofa we purchased because the mattress was too firm to sit on. When it is time to use it as a sleeper we have to fold down the back cushion which creates an uneven surface to sleep on. A lighter color helps to make the space bigger, especially that the windows are North facing meaning there’s not a ton of light coming in during the day.

A small round table with a chair or two can replace your desk, so you have plenty of room for a cozy guest bed. If your space is small, it might be challenging to fit a bed in with your desk and other furnishings. Sofas can double as a place for you to relax and for your guests to get some sleep.
